Evo Enduro 2019 Completes Epic Excursion To Phuket, Thailand.

Phuket, 5 Aug 2019 - The third iteration of EvoLTN’s annual endurance driving event from Malaysia to Thailand, Evo Enduro 2019, came to a successful completion recently with a record participation of 82 cars ferrying a combined 161 individuals on an epic 2,000km round trip to Phuket island and back.

Compared to previous editions, the itinerary of Evo Enduro 2019 was crafted to maximise bonding time and networking opportunities between participants, with more emphasis toward on-ground activities and a less hectic driving programme for the journey.

The first day’s programme started at The Linc Kuala Lumpur, Jalan Tun Razak, where participants began assembling from 7:00am. Joining the occasion were hero cars from Aston Martin, Bufori, Ferrari, Maserati, Mazda, Renault, and Rolls-Royce. Homegrown brand Bufori showcased their CS sports car in public for the first time, whilst the all-new Renault Megane R.S. 280 convoyed with the group for the first leg of the drive.

Lunch at STG Café in Ipoh punctuated the journey to the border, after which participants made their way to Thailand at their own pace, putting a night at the beach town of Satun, where they were hosted in an official dinner by the Thai Tourism Board. The next morning, most participants even found time to help clean up the beach as part of a CSR activity.

It took a full day’s driving before the group finally reached Phuket in the evening. Activities organized at the island included shooting and go-karting, whilst attractive prizes sponsored by Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, Chemlube, DNA Tuning, Ferrari, Glastec, Giti Tires, Maserati, Police Eyewear, Porsche, Thule, Tumi, REC Watches, Rolls-Royce, and Volvo Cars were given away daily for social media challenge winners.

New to this year’s Evo Enduro, participants were encouraged to dress their cars up in full livery, evoking the spirit of motor racing and treating onlookers to spectacular visuals of cars cruising by in bright vibrant colours.

This new concept immediately attracted the interest of sponsors, with the likes of Giti Tires, Police Eyewear, Thule, Spritzer, and twelve brands under the Yee Lee Group sponsoring cars with full racing livery. Some participants also took up the challenge to decorate their cars with their dream racing liveries, others took the opportunity to create specialized livery to promote their own businesses.

• Record-breaking participation: 161 participants forming a 5km road train on highways.

• FMCG brands sponsored multiple teams in recognition of social media reach.

As part of an unprecedented tie-up between a motoring media title and FMCG company, Yee Lee Group’s twelve brands, namely Cactus, Kizz, Morning Kiss, Neuvida, Red Eagle, Vecorn, Vesawit, Vesoya, Red Chef, Sabah Tea, Sunlico, and Sunplus, are giving away a Proton X70 as grand prize in the Merdeka-themed Menang Menang Menang contest held in conjunction with Evo Enduro.

“We want to bring the spirit of motor racing to the road, not so much the speeding and competitive driving bits, of course, but the visual spectacle of it, the sight of cars dressed in beautiful livery giving onlookers something lively to look at,” Bobby explained.

“Evo Enduro started off as an outing to gather enthusiasts to collectively express our love of driving on the roads. We try to make each Enduro better than the one before, and based on participant feedback, this year’s Enduro has indeed been the best one yet. We are not resting on our laurels, of course, and we are already looking forward to make Enduro 2020 even better and more exciting!” he concluded.
